Do callers need to install anything?

No. Callers just tap your link and the call starts right in their browser.

Is it really private?

Calls are end-to-end encrypted (DTLS-SRTP) with an emoji verification code, there are no accounts, nothing is recorded, and links delete themselves when they expire.

How is this different from a burner number?

Burner apps still require signup and a real number underneath. Blipcall is a purpose-bound call link with an expiry — no number exists at all.
